I am going to step out of character, go out on a limb, stick my neck out etc., etc., and do something I have previously stated I would not waste my time doing like the “talkers” on the broadcast media (prognosticate on politics). Keep in mind I am not going to predict a political outcome, just prognosticate. Even though I am first of all a philosopher and an advocate of fundamental well established principles and this website is dedicated with that in mind, I do feel a moral obligation to alert my fellow citizens when I see a potential danger that is not being discussed by the other information outlets. What I am leading up to is the possible repeat of what I call the “Ross Perot” phenomenon. Remember the whiny-voiced, egocentric, self important, Texas billionnaire who ran a third party campaign against Bill Clinton and George H.W. Bush? Most people I believe would agree that the inclusion of Ross Perot in the general election handed the presidency to Bill Clinton. Now I am not going to make any argument one way or another that the country was better off or worse off with the election being thrown to Bill Clinton. The only point I am making is that in a close race a strong enough showing by a third candidate can determine which major party candidate wins. Millions of otherwise normal American voters fell for this Texan who couldn’t seem to talk without the use of euphomisms, and folksy cliches and parables. There are presently two well known high profile people who have been in the spotlight and pose a real theat to the electoral defeat of El Presidente Obama by running as an independent candidate. I am referring to billionnaire real estate mogul Donald Trump and tea party movement darling and former Alaska governor Sarah Palin. First of all I’ll express my personal feelings about these two celebrities and then express my concern with the political danger they pose. I really have never liked Donald Trump but, never gave him much thought until he started playing in the game of politics. Now I have no choice but to give serious thought to him. Donald Trump is obviously a successful money maker but, when he presumes to consider offering himself to be president he shows himself to be somewhat of a blowhard idiot. His own words condemn him as such. He is definitely egocentric and really in love with himself. When El Presidente finally produced an alleged copy of his birth certificate he could not pat himself on the back enough in taking credit for El Presidente producing the document. Mr. Trump in his many speeches and interviews showed his lack of understanding of the economic catastrophe facing this country. I don’t recall even once hearing him mention the enormity of the overspending and overregulating of the federal government. In his world it’s OPEC and China that is the problem. His solution is to take over the petroleum of sovereign nations such as Iraq and to place a 25% import tariff on Chinese products. First of all the U.S. government has no constitutional or moral authority to seize any sovereign countries’s petroleum. Secondly a 25% tariff on Chinese imports is just more money for an irresponsible power hungry fed. govt. to squander and constitutes more tax on the American citizens. These proposals by Trump are ludicrous, without merit, and even childish. It ignores the real issue of fed. govt. overspending which has nothing to do with OPEC or China. Regarding Sarah Palin, I have always liked Sarah and still do but, I don’t understand her thinking when she hints at a third candidate run for the presidency. In contrast to Trump Sarah is a savvy former municipal and Alaska state government administrtor who understands that elimination of fed. govt. overspending, excessive regulation, and fascist central planning is the solution to the private business sector ( aka economy) malaise. I don’t understand how either one could think that if they didn’t get enough votes in the } Repub. primary to get the nomination that they could get enough Repub. and independent votes in the general election to beat Obama. I can only hope that they will realise that they should either run in the primary or not at all because both of them have enough populist appeal to take enough Repub. and independent votes to give Obama an easy reelection .That possibility is too horrible to think about. CAN EL PRESIDENTE OBAMA BE REELECTED?
July 3, 2011Death of Osama Bin Laden
June 18, 2011Well, It’s April 2, 2011. I just found out on Fox News that after years of failed efforts Usama Bin Laden has been given the greatest reward that a devout Muslim can receive, death as a martyr for his god, guaranteed entry into paradise where he is promised 72 brown-eyed virgins to satisfy his sexual urges. After many years of fulfilling his duty of jihad(killing infidels) resulting in trmendous bloodshed and property destruction to the enemies of his god, prophet, and belief, he received the thing he loved more than life, death. Yes, that’s right by his own words they(meaning himself and all jihadists) love death more than life. All these years the might of the world’s only super power was squandered trying to hunt down one demented Jihadist-in-chief as if with his capture or execution the global mayhem perpetrated by the Islamic jihadists will just come to a screeching halt. Former president George Bush was a fool to place so much importance on eliminating Bin Laden. He set himself up for failure. The slimy slippery murderous Islamic fundamentalist had the accumulated experience of many years of escape and elusion to rely on in addition to the unwavering support of millions of admirers willing to give him safe haven. The killing of Bin Laden is certainly justified and proper but, hardly a “big deal”. There is an endless supply of crafty slinky lying Islamic jihadists anxious to carry on the glorious goal to impose global Islamic rule. If that means Killing every infidel in the world, that’s fine and dandy with them. Call me cynical if you will but, I don’t give Obama credit for ordering the elimination of UBL because based on all the destructive policies of El Presidente I firmly believe he did it for political reasons. He was certainly quick to grab all the credit for himself and then he had the arrogance to say the citizens’ don’t need to see the death and burial photos because we(meaning American citizens, his employer) don’t want to be seen by the Islamic world as “spiking the ball” as in scoring a touchdown in football. Well, this American citizen employer has news for El Presidente, I couldn’t care less about what the universe of Islamic jihadists would think if the death and burial photos were released. They are already willing to blow themselves up in order to kill and destroy anything unIslamic. If they can ever get their hands on a nuclear device they would have to have a lottery to see who would have the glory of “strapping on ) so to speak, the device and vaporise New York City. How could any sane person think that showing the death and burial photos of a blood thirsty narcissistic warlord would increase the amount of violence continually being plotted and perpetrated against the nonIslamic world? Federal Budget Deficit Debt in Spending
June 18, 2011Well, I am just disgusted with the pervasive misinformation, incorrect analysis, and misleading propaganda on broadcast news regarding the budget deal reached by the partisans in D.C. 4/8/11. I am also disgusted with the connstant demonizing of private enterprises in this country. Anyone that has no understanding of basic economic theory would have to conclude that businesses in this country, especially the big evil corporations, only goal is to accumulate wealth at the expense of the defenseless consumers. The way terminology is used you would have to conclude that businesses including corporate businesses are some kind of monolithic seperate living entity that is able to carry out its evil agenda apart from human effort, talent, and direction. Of course this is absuedity in the extreme. Any business enterprise whether corporate, sole proprietotship, or partnership is people, real human beings just like you and me with all the typical weaknesses, strengths, good character, and bad character. Politicians like to demonize big corporations so they can pretend to be the protector and justify their illegitimate meddlesome regulations and their greedy taxation. They believe they can get away with it because they probably correctly believe that a large enough segment of the miseducated citizens have bought the idea that the evil agenda of big business is to satisfy its greed by making profits selling goods and sevices that customers want and need. Isn’t it wonderful that we have the righteous Fed. Govt. with its bloated budget that has been in deficit so many years that the Fed. debt has reached a crisis to save us from the greedy profit making corporations? Just imagine the horrible consequences if we actually reduced Fed. spending. The mere thought of it makes a person tremble with the sheer audacity. We might actually have a balanced Fed. Budget, the beginning of a reduction in the Fed. debt, businesses hiring thus reducing unemployment, and let’s not forget the horror of the lowering of inflation. Yes, I know I’ve been naughty and been very sarcastic but, sometimes sarcasm can make the point by emphasizing the absurdity of the popular propaganda. The bottom line is this: the solution to the Fed. deficit, debt, unemployment, and inflation is a big reduction in Fed. spending. This govt. receives more than enoughr tax revenue to pay for legitimate programs. The debt limit absolutely must not be raised. I think you just about have to be a fool to think otherwise. Think about it, seriously. Till later, fly high and be free. Your freedom eagle, John H.
Absolutely Must Read Great Books
June 6, 2011The following is a list of books that I have read in the past two years. They have contributed greatly to my enlightenment. I highly recommend them and am highly confident that you will find them enlightening as well. They are all available from Amazon .com which I have ordered from many times and find it quick and virtually effortless. The books are: What’s So Great About America by Dinesh D’Souza, Cruel and Usual Punishment by Nonie Darwish, Nomad by Ayaan Hirsi Ali, They Now Call Me Infidel by Nonie Darwish, The Trouble With Islam Today by Irshad Manji, Infidel by Ayaan Hirsi Ali, The Truth About Muhammad by Robert Spencer. Let me know what you think about them after you read them. I found them to be the most profound books I’ve read in my 45 years of adulthood. Fly high and be free. Your freedom eagle, John H.
Writer’s Block
April 10, 2011Well , it’s finally happened. There’re so many things going on in addition to all the past due things that need to be addressed that for the last two months I have been suffering from a severe case of writer’s block. When I created NonpartisanMarketplace.com I did so with the intention of doing my part to fill what I perceived to be a void in areas of fundamental philosophical outlook and areas of concern that were not being addressed by other learned people. The impetus for the name of the website itself was born of my reaching an understanding that partisan government is illegitimate and must be ended. This is not some great silver bullet that will cure everything wrong with government. It is just one of the fundamental issues that is just not being addressed. The evolution of political party- based government has been a big contributor to the current existence of incredibly overreaching and overspending government. My goal on this website is to do my part as a good American to enlighten as many citizens as possible to the concept of minarchism. I used to use the word libertarianism but, this word with the root liberty has already been perverted in its use so much that I have chosen the much underused word minarchism or minarchy which simply means minimal government. I believe from a language standpoint this word will prove to be a little more difficult to corrupt. I realize that makes me a minarchist which perhaps sounds more sinister and sounds a lot like the unrelated word anarchist. Oh well, nothing is perfect. Anyway, that’s my decision and I’m sticking to it. As anyone who has seen my postings can tell, this website is certainly not a source for news. There Is no shortage of websites, radio, tv, and publications providing news. Americans are not suffering from a lack of information. They are suffering from a fundamental misunderstanding of what the legitimate scope of government is. Once a proper understanding of this scope is understood then there is no longer any confusion about what to do but only a question of how to do it. In the State of Alabama Constitution of 1901 the scope of government is stated best “The sole object and only legitimate end of government is to protect the citizen in the enjoyment of life, liberty, and property and when it assumes other functions it is usurpation and oppression.” Everything that is done by government must somehow be directly related to this very minarchist scope. If it doesn’t, then the only question that shoud be debated is how can we eliminate this illegitimate function. Any other discussion is just avoiding the fundamental issue. There are two events that have been in the news that for the sake of trying to get something to press I will keep my comments relatively brief. First is the horrific earthquake and tsunami that has ravaged the people of Japan. As a human being with normal feelings of compassion my heart goes out to them. This tragedy is such a dramatic reminder to us all that no matter how much the human race advances in technology it is mother nature who will always have the final word. It is incredible to me that a nation/race has over the many centuries found the strength and pure mental and spiritual resolve to maintain a civilization in such an unstable environment and, come to be one of the most prosperous nations on earth. The scale of this tragedy is almost beyond comprehension. If what has been told is true the axis upon which our home planet rotates has been changed 8 inches. The main island was moved 8 feet closer to the U.S., and there are towns on the coast that will now be under water every high tide due to the land dropping in elevation. The problems with radioactive particles leaking from reactors at the damaged Fukushima power plant is receiving news coverage far out of proportion to the threat it poses to human life. I do not have a clear understanding of whether or not nuclear power should be allowed by government. I can definitely say that there is a lot of misinformation from the side that is against nuclear power and the same can probably be said about about the pro side. I have been told by my respected colleague that going back many years ago when nuclear power was first being proposed the federal government passed a law limiting the liability of a company for any damages caused by a nuclear accident. My colleague made the point that if this legislation had not been passed no private investor would ever build a nuclear reactor because of the potential liability being too uncertain. If this is the case that means the taxpayers will be on the hook for any amount above this mandated limit. As a dedicated minarchist freedom eagle I am steadfastly opposed to government subsidy in any form for private enterprise. Nuclear energy has a lot to make it appealing and I tend to favor taking advantage of advances in technology but, technology must stand on its own merits without taxpayer subsidy. It is worth mentioning at this time that assuming the scientists claim that the earth’s axis has shifted 8 inches, I would assume this would affect the earth’s climate more than any claimed man-caused global warming. The other news item is the U.S. intervening militarily in the civi war in Libya. The only reason for being opposed to this is that it in no way can be related to the legitimate scope of government which is to protect this country. This intervention is just idiotic and must come to a screeching halt and yes it is way past time to bring our troops home from Afghanistan and Iraq. As long as these people subscribe to a belief system that requires that non believers must be eliminated, by violence if necessary, there can be no peace among themselves or between themselves and nonbelievers. No country/people that is committed to government that is based on the tenets of a book of religion can prosper, exist in peace or uphold inalienable human rights. Our government is fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq as if all we have to do is subdue at the most a few thousand religious fanatic fighters and everything will be fine. Nothing could be further from the truth. The majority of citizens in these countries believe their religion is the very foundation of all aspects of life including government. As we all know government functions with the understanding that physical force can be used to carry out its agenda. This religion does not recognize such concepts as individual inalienable rights, and secular democratic republican government. They believe that is man’s law. They believe that only God’s law can be the basis of government. We must bring our troops home and allow the people of these countries to discover for themselves the error in their thinking. It is foolhardy to think that it is proper to use the finest military in the history of the U.S. to build some kind of pro-western democratic Islamic Republic. Islam is pro Islam it is not pro western neither has it ever been. I guess I agree with the talkers in the broadcast media that we are not at war with Islam, but what is just as important is that Islam is at war with everything that is not Islamic and we must accept this fact and make it clear to those who believe they are at war with us because we are not Islamic that we will not hesitate to defend with our very lives our right to live as free individuals. 112th Congress
April 9, 2011Well, today is Jan. 5, 2011. The 112th Congress will convene with its significant Republican majority. I watch Fox News Channel and Fox Business News Channel because I think they are by far the best news channels. Still Fox falls far short of what it could be. One thing that differentiates me from the talkers on Fox is that I will not waste time prognosticating. I will not try to predict what will happen and engage in fruitless discussions about hypotheticals. History will show how well Republicans fulfilled their election promise to reduce the size and scope of the federal government. I will only discuss what must be done to stop the federal government from turning this country into some kind of monstrosity that none of us will recognize I am cautiously optimistic to see the increase in the number of classical libertarian members of Congress. I don’t recall anytime in my 44 yrs. of adulthood hearing so much libertarian language from Repulicans. While it’s nice to hear the pro liberty language, it will be even nicer to see the words result in action. The two core issues that the awakened voters are expecting to be immediately dealt with is the outrageous overspending resulting in an unbelieveable level of Federal debt and the cont’dpower grabbing illegitimate health care bill crafted and passed into law by the Obama and Democratic Party junta. I am very disturbed to already be hearing some people criticizing the mere intent to repeal Obama Care as a waste of time because any repeal bill passed will surely be vetoed by Obama. This reasoning is idiotic. The only thing that matters is should it be repealed. If so, then everything that can be done to repeal it must be done regardless of the possibility of a veto. Not only would the Republicans be defaulting on a major campaign promise but more importantly they would be failing to protect the rights of the citizens of this country. The repeal of disgusting illegitimate legislation is not a partisan issue. It is the right thing to do. Contrary to what Bil O’Reilly says Ideology is not a non issue ,it is everything. Ideology was the catalyst that made colonial America into the United States of America, the greatest country in human history. O’Reilly made the outrageously idiotic statement that Americans don’t care about ideology. They just want honest efficient government. Oh really! I guess based on that criterea Americans would be thrilled to have a Hitleresque third reich type of government. I believe the German people would question the sanity of O’Reilly’s statement. Maybe it’s O’Reilly that doesn’t care about ideology. As someone who has watched O’Reilly for years I believe I can safely say O”Reilly only embraces one ideology. It is called the O’Reilly ideology. It is an emotionally based form of populism heavily dependent on how O’Reilly feels about the matter in question. If O’Reilly had lived during the time of the birth of this country. He would not have sided with the American revolutionaries. He would have been part of the majority of Americans who remained loyal to the King but did not fight against the rebels. I can just hear him now “Hey everybody you’ve got an efficient honest government. What more can you ask for? What’s that you say? Individual liberty? Inalienable rights? It ain’t gonna happen.” Til later. Fly high and be free. Your freedom eagle, John
Education
December 25, 2010Education is the relationship between the individual and the entire universe of experience and knowledge. It is not the exclusive domain of government(deceptivelly referred to as public) schooling centers. Even private schooling centers are in most cases little or no better than the government”education system” because they are regulated by government and modeled after the government “system”. Education is the natural, spontaneous, and ,self-initiated response of the human mind to the immediate environment. This process begins immediately after birth. As the individual ages this early education grows and expands at an astonishing rate without any formal scooling at all. In contemporary America it is common practice to turn over custody of chidren to government and private schooling centers as early as age 4 or 5 to begin the traditional 12 years of highly regimented one-size-fits-all schooling/indoctrination. After 12 years of formalized schooling the typical graduate, of which I was one in 1968, finishes their 12 year government-mandated schooling with two basic skills: a reasonable ability to read and write, and a working knowledge of basic math. I remember when I was a student in the government schooling center that I was assigned to by the time I was in the fourth grade I was a literate person with enough skill in simple math to handle the mostcommon life needs. These skills are essentially the skills I possessed upon graduation 8 years later. So what purpose was served by the additional eight years of “schooling”? It is clear to me and I say without apology that my attendance for the additional 8 yrears was just to justify the existence of a huge expensive citizen-financed government-imposed beauracracy. It is worth mentioning that my mother and father did not receive any schooling beyond the fourth grade but, yet they both had an education that I call without hesitation college level. The human mind has such a strong affinity to be educated that you would almost have to deliberatlely prevent the normal person from being educated. It has become widespread practice in contemporary America to equate a person’s education level with the degree of formalized schooling achieved. This respect for mass formalized schooling is misguided and undeserved. Schooling can be in some instances a legitimate part of a person’s education as long as it is private schooling. Government can never be a legitimate part of education because it is not a legitimate function of government. Over the years I have asked many different people the question”Where did you learn most of what you know, in school or outside of school?” The answer is always the same, “outside of school”.There seems to be no end to the controversies concerning government schooling but, yet you hear little or no controversy regarding private schooling. The most common objection to education being provided by private citizens and the marketplace in the same manner that life preserving essentials such as food, is how will the poor be educated without gaverment susidy. If people were allowed to keep the money that would otherwise go to the government education “system” and government allowed education to be provided by the same marketplace that made the standard of living in this country the highest of any country in history there would be such an abundance of low cost education, schooling, and assistance in the form of scholarships, loans, and grants that no deserving person would go without education due to financial reasons. The ultimate key to the development of well-educated children is a proper home environment full of loving discipline and guidance. This factor is missing in far too many instances in contemporary America. Without this factor no amount of government spending, standard setting, conferencing, or elusive “silver bullet” will lead to a better educated populace, The funamental issue is that government is the direct cause of everything that people complain about in education. Formal schooling must be provided by free citizens interactinfg with each other in the environment of a free market. A good beginning would be for legal guardians of minors to assert their moral right to educate their charges as they see fit by demanding the repeal of any kind of mandatory attendance Law such as here in Alabama. I Have personal knowledge that Maylasia which is known to have a high literacy rate and is a military dictatorship even banning the import and use of chewing gum has no mandatory attendance law. This clearly illustrates that government mandates are not the creating force that produces educated children. It is concerned loving guardians. Eventhough my mom and dad were only 4th grade educated, their loving discipline, guidance, and their example of always reading is why I became an avid reader and an educated person. I even went so far as to get two years of University schooling. I have 14 years of schooling but, more importantly I have 62 years of education. Till later. Fly high and be free. REVOLUTION
October 25, 2010November 2, 2010 is rapidly approaching. The importance of this day can not be overstated. The Obama-led Democratic regime has a stranglehold on the citizens and private institutions in this country that has since its inception served as a haven for people from all over the world yearning to live as free individuals pursuing their legitimate goals and dreams in life. November 2 is the time to exercise citizen oversight and control over government gone horribly awry. This is the most crucial election in my adult history of 44 yrs. In recent years I wisely and correctly became a diehard independent nonpartison in my outlook toward government. Except for voting for Ronald Reagan, I have always voted Libertarian. I experienced a self-enlightenment that led me to the conclusion that political parties have no right to be involved in government and partisan elections are illegetimate and must be abolished as soon as possible. George Washington said that when political parties take control of government that will be the end of this country as it was first conceived. We are incredibly close to the fulfillment of Washington’s prophecy. The Democratic juggernaut must be brought to a hali in order to change the course the Democratic Party has charted for this great country. There is a saying that you must play the cards you are dealt. Eventhough I am a nonpartisan I must playthe hand I have been dealt by voting straight Republican to break up the power of the Democratic Party. Hopefully a Republican majority in the house can at least create some gridlock that can put a halt to this insane government spending frenzy. I call upon all fellow Freedom Eagles to do the same. Then we must follow up as good masters of our government and make sure they do their job as stated in article I section 35 of the Alabama constitution”The only legitimat end of government is to protect the citizen in the enjoyment of life, liberty, and property and when it assumes other functions it is usurpation and oppression” The reason I quote the Alabama Constitution is because I am a lifelong resident and about two decades ago a fellow traveler shared with me this section of the exccellent declaration of rights in the Alabama Constitution. I was astounded at the insight of the writers of this document written over 100 years ago. The beauty of Article I section 35 is the clarity, timelessness, and its absolute fundamental truthfulness. The apocalyptic enormity of the problems threatening the very survival of our beloved Republic has been created by the longstanding accelerating violation of this fundamental principle. The answer to the problems caused by government that has exceeded its legitimate scope is to find the best way to shrink government to its proper fundamental scope. Till later. FLY HIGH AND BE FREE. Value Added Tax?
May 29, 2010This freedom eagle has been silent too long. I am righteously angry over the repeated mention by the talking heads on tv about the possibility of El PResidente and his regime implementing a VAT to deal withe the shameful unbelievable budget deficit. The citizens of this country should be outraged at the mere whisper of any tax increase. This monstrosity of a deficit happened because of illegitimate out of control spending. While millions of citizens tighten their belt government continues to spend money as if cutting spending is just not in their vocabulary. I CALL UPON EVERY American patriot to do whatever it takes to impress the ruling junta that massive cuts in spending and getting out of the way of private enterprise is the ony solution to the economic fiasco in our homeland. This freedom eagle is calling upon every patriot to never forget the power of one. Never say to yourself or anyone else”oh nothing can be done”. Always say what should be done and what must be done. This country was born out of ideas being freely expressed to the point that it became an unstoppable tide of positive change that caused the whole world to stand in awe. Join me and be a freedom eagle. Fly high and be free. John
